London Shepherd Church (Brixton Full Gospel Church, registered charity 1085892) is committed to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of everyone who is part of our church family or visits us — and especially of children, young people and adults who may be vulnerable. Safeguarding is the responsibility of the whole church.

Our commitment

  • We treat every person with respect and care, and we listen to and take seriously anyone who raises a concern.
  • We follow the safeguarding policy and guidance of Assemblies of God Great Britain and have regard to Charity Commission safeguarding guidance.
  • We adopt safer recruitment practices, including DBS checks where appropriate, for those who work with children or vulnerable adults.
  • Those serving in our ministries receive guidance and support to help them recognise and respond to concerns.

Children and young people

Activities involving children and young people are run by people who have been appropriately recruited and supported. If you have any questions about how we care for children at church, please contact our Safeguarding Lead.

Adults who may be vulnerable

We seek to make our church a safe and welcoming place for adults who may be at risk because of age, disability, illness or circumstance, and to respond carefully to any concern about an adult's safety or wellbeing.

Welcoming everyone safely

We want our church to be open to all who wish to come. At the same time, our first duty is to keep everyone — particularly children and vulnerable adults — safe. Where it is necessary to manage a risk, the church may, in line with our policy and any guidance from statutory agencies, put a written safeguarding agreement (a "covenant of care") in place with an individual. These matters are handled sensitively and confidentially by the Safeguarding Lead and church leadership.

Concerned? Please speak up

You will never be ignored. Every concern is taken seriously and handled with care and confidentiality, sharing information only with those who need to know in order to keep people safe.
